A human adult or animal is one that has grown in all its potential. In the context of human beings, the term "adult" could mean anything that is connected to social or legal notions. Legal adults are those who has reached the age of maturity. They are considered to be independent, self sufficient and accountable. Also, they can be described as a "major". The average age at which you can attain the legal age of adulthood is 18 however, definitions can differ based on laws, countries, and psychological development.

The lifespan of human beings, adulthood refers to the time in which the person has achieved full physical and intellectual maturity. Adulthood, as generally understood, begins at the age of either 20 or 21. Following middle age (starting around age 40), comes the age of old age (around the age of 60). Young adulthood starts between age of 18 to 30. Mid-life adulthood begins around in the 30s to 60s. The transition to late adulthood begins around the mid-60s. When we reach early adulthood, our body has reached the fullest physical maturation. However, our size and weight may rise. During young adulthood we reach the peak of our physical ability.
